Types of Closures

When choosing the right closure, the most important factor include the application, and how you want your zipper to perform.  The types and differences including common applications are included below.

Open Top, Closed Bottom

This zipper closure has a bottom stop and two top stop at the top so that the zipper can be closed and opened without the two sides separating from each other except at the top.  The most common applications include jeans, V-Neck Shirts, Pockets.
Open Top Closed Bottom

Closed Top, Closed Bottom

This zipper closure is designed to be closed at both ends. There is a top & bottom stop with the slider running between the ends. This zipper is most commonly used in applications such as purses or small pockets.

Open Top, Closed Bottom, Two-Way, Back to Back

This zipper closure is much like the open top, closed bottom but also includes two sliders which are back to back and can both travel up and down the zipper teeth. The most common applications include : Luggage and Sporting Goods, Coveralls.

Closed Top, Closed Bottom, Two-Way, Head to Head

This zipper closure is much like the closed top, closed bottom zipper but also includes two sliders that are head to head and can both travel up and down the zipper teeth and creates an opening in the middle. Common applications include.Luggage, Bags and Purses or any item needing quick access to the middle area.

Open Top, Open Bottom, Two-Way, Back to Back

This zipper closure has top and bottom stops as well as two sliders that are back to back and can both travel up and down the zipper teeth. Common applications include. Luggage, Garments where access is needed from Top or the Bottom of the Zipper.

Separator – Left Insert

This zipper closure is used in applications in which the two sides of the zipper need to separate completely utilizing a box and pin. Unit zippers can be shortened by removing the top stop, the box and pin should never be removed. Common applications include jackets, Or when there is a need to separate 2 portions of a product.
Separator - Left Insert

Separator – Right Insert

Used in Markets outside of the USA where Pin is inserted into box with Right Hand and slider is Pulled up with the Left hand. (Opposite of the USA Market except for some rare Industrial applications and Mattresses.)

Two-Way Separator, Back to Back, Left Insert

This zipper closure is much like the separating zipper except that this closure has two sliders back to back that can travel up and down the zipper teeth in opposite directions either separating or closing the two sides of the zipper. Common applications include jackets, Long Coats. And where access is needed without completely separating the zipper.
Two-Way Separator Back to Back Left Insert

Two-Way Separator, Back to Back, Right Insert

Used in other countries where pin is inserted with Right hand and closed with the left hand.
